International Women´s Day

I want to dedicate this post to all of the women who have influenced my life, my choices and my way of thinking. I want to thank the women that were there with me day by day helping me overcome the tiny obstacles of life and the big ones too, I want to thank the women that inspired me to be an empowered woman.

Less than a month ago a horrible incident occurred in Quito a 20 year old girl was sexually abused and murdered by her own “friends.” This incident created a lot of controversy in Quito a lot of people where devastated by it, but a lot of people too, were critical saying she was the one that triggered it all by being drunk, and sloppy. I was so annoyed at these comments and I still cannot believe that people would try to blame it on the victim saying it was basically her fault. I am tired of living in a world where women are taught not get rapped instead of teaching men not to rape. So most of all I want to dedicate this post to her “Karina del Pozo”, reminding to women everywhere that we are the ones that can make a change. We should be the ones that teach men to be gentle and kind to women, we need to teach them that rape, murder and mistreat are not unacceptable. We need to claim respect from men each and everyday, it is our responsibility as women not to let these horrible things happen to us.
